Last Hurrah In SoCal for Spring 2010

We have come to our Thousand Trails Preserve in the Palm Springs area (actually in Palm Desert) for a few weeks to wait for one more Shannon fix before heading east to Texas for a David fix and to Florida for a Trace fix. Shannon's job with a Santa Barbara accounting firm naturally has its busiest time before April 15th, and on the 16th, she's ready for some R & R.

We love the cities in the Coachella  Valley - Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, and Indio to mention a few. At sea level, the backdrop of 10,000 ft snow-covered peaks, and the lush, flower-lined boulevards reminds us that there are springs in Palm Springs. It is also the center of  California date production. The TT preserve is on the site of a former date ranch, and in the fall, they harvest hundreds of pounds right here in the park.

We packed a lot into Shannon and Bill and Brianna's overnight visit.

Some lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

A stroll along the historic part of Palm Springs with pics of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and Dinah Shore and these three "well known" PS denizens.

A tramride up to the top of San Jacinto Peak

and a so-long lunch before parting the next day.

Lots of good talking and laughing and hugging and everything else that makes a Shannie fix so special.
